This is a very rare opportunity to own what is quite possibly the only one of these left in totally unmolested original order in this very rare configuration.

Optioned from day one as a base ZC Fairlane Custom with the optional 302 cubic inch engine would have made this a rare bird, but to be optioned from new with a floor change Top Loader 4 speed and bucket seats would have made it one of very few ever built.

How this original old survivor managed to stay in one piece through the eighties and nineties is beyond belief, it was clearly never really in the public eye or it would have surly mysteriously disappeared with its gearbox seats and other goodies making their way into one of the many GT replicas of the day, with the carcase dumped in a river bed somewhere!

The original ownership papers show this example was registered new in Rangiora on the 24th of July 1970, and spent the first few years in rural North Canterbury before heading to the deep south in the mid seventies and slowly working its way back up the South Island with four private owners all of whom clearly took very good care of her.

A very honest original body appears to have had only minor touch ups over the years with some of the original paintwork still present and shows no evidence of the normal rust in the usual places which plagued these early Fairlanes, inside the boot and door shuts still displays mostly original paint, as does under the hood, where the very happy Windsor Small block goes about its work .

Being a Custom model this example has a lot of unusual trim items unique only to this model and is quite different from the Fairlane 500 trim spec that was more common place here in NZ, the original dash still has the factory clock and highly desirable Super Fringe Push Button radio which were both big news back in 1970!

The original undisturbed ID Tag on the fire wall confirms this car is correct and displayed today as it was optioned from new, it is not a built up car, it has always been a 302 4 speed car, which would have been a special order when new.

The engine is smooth and has plenty of period power with a nice shift though the 4 speed, and the package is very pleasant to drive with a nice tight solid feel and very nice road manners representative of how good this car would have been when it was new almost 50 years ago.

The interior is very tidy having had a small amount of sympathetic cosmetic work carried out, yet still retains a lot of the original trim and fittings in very good original order, and is totally correct in its layout.

A very rare car in exceptionally honest original order, and with the prices of all Australian cars going ever skyward here's your opportunity to get a good honest survivor before it too gets away...
