If you have been searching for as really nice NZ new Compact Fairlane, the search is now over.......

Previously sold by us, this beautiful 65 was sold new in Rangiora by Palmer & Doak the then Ford dealers in North Canterbury on the 6th of April 1965, to rural Hawarden North Canterbury, and enjoyed a respected existence at the hands of its original owner until he reached the ripe old age of 85 years old! and after reluctantly selling the car in 1993, the second owner had the car for 6 mths before selling it to the third owner who kept it 6 weeks before selling it to its new owner in 1994 who then painstakingly restored her to her former glory, and enjoyed the car for many years before we sold her to the last doting local owner a few years ago.

The previous long term owner commenced a sympathetic restoration soon after purchasing the very solid original old car in 94, and the rust free super straight body was treated to a thorough going over by a well respected local tradesman, before heading off to be repainted in the original Gold Beige colour, and then returned to have all of the original trim and bright work refurbished and re fitted, bringing the car back to its near show room style period correct finish.

The interior seat coverings where all original and intact but showed their age, so after much research a new correct interior kit was sourced and fitted, while retaining the original unmarked dash pad and interior trimmings all of which are original to the car, and in exceptional condition,

The smooth old 289 V8 engine is believed to have been rebuilt and bored .020 over at the time of the restoration, with the c4 auto trans being reconditioned at the same time, and although that was some time ago now, both still seem pretty happy in their work, and with the suspension having been refurbished at the same time, this old Fairlane was back to performing probably far better than it did way back in 1965!

This lovely example retains its original ownership papers, a fully recorded history, and the original sales pouch satchel, and even the original keys!

This neat old Fairlane 500 also participated in the 100th Anniversary of Ford celebrations in Rangiora a few years ago, and was the centre piece of the Palmer & Doak display.

A delightful example of a now very rare NZ new car, as most have long since disappeared, or been modified.

So if god honest original cars are your thing, this NZ new, RHD example which is being offered well under the cost of restoring one to this standard today, is well worth consideration...
