This unbelievably original old Charger XL 265 has to be seen to be fully appreciated.
A true blast from the past this Charger looks like it's just driven straight out of the late seventies , back when it would have been a daily driver worth about $1500.00!
The body on this example is so honest it is hard to comprehend, it appears to have all of its original completely undisturbed sheet metal, and almost all of its original paint!
With that comes plenty of little bumps and bruises, faded old paint and scratches and chips from close to 50 years of use, but they are all worn as badges of honour giving this Charger a unique character and charm that you simply couldn't replicate if you tried...
The body is very straight and tight and this one has clearly been garaged all of its life as the usual rust issues that plagued these old girls haven't effected her too much with only the odd little first time bit here and there around the lower rear guards, but nothing major, and certainly nothing that has ever been welded, or presented a problem.
Very long term and very low ownership has saved this old Charger from the fate that most suffered back in the 80s and 90s, and unbelievably it has never been completely repainted, while the interior is in amazing original condition, and even still smells like 1972!
The running gear consists of a sweet running 265 Hemi coupled up to a bolt action column shift auto and this is without a doubt one of the tightest rattle free old seventies cars we have had the pleasure of offering for sale, largely due to the fact it's never been molested or pulled apart....
This Charger really deserves to be left as it is, as it is just so cool, however if you were looking to restore one, you couldn't start with a better base, and if you wanted to create an R/T replica this car would be absolutely ideal, not only because of its original condition but because it is an Australian assembled base XL body, has the correct R/T style seats, perfect R/T style dash crash pad, door trims, and interior fittings, as well as it not having all of the 770 dress trim around the exterior .
First registered new in Invercargill in 1972, then a stint in Mossburn Central Otago, then the next 33 years in Christchurch, and that's it...so according to the original ownership papers she's had three owners, and is now showing circa 120k miles...where would you find another like it?
A very cool old car that presents just how they did back in the good old days, 8 inch Tridens and a pop up glass sunroof where all the go back in the day, and hey it's are all part of her story, so if you appreciate the difference between a cheap shiny penny and a genuine survivor car that's hiding absolutely nothing, then I'm sure this Charger will put a smile on your face!
