Hey Charger! and what a Charger this one is!!

An absolute pleasure to bring to the market this historically significant Charger E48 !

Believed to be one of only 16 E48 VJ XL Six Pack 4 Speeds ever built, the story of this remarkable survivor goes like this....

The Vehicle was bought into the country in 1973 by the late legendary Charger
racer Ron Rutherford as a sister / drive car to his allconquering E49.
Ron sold the car to another well know racer Rod Collingwood of Amco Mini
fame in 1974. Rod was the first to race the car and went on to win several
events before selling her in Christchurch and moving on to achieve great
success in NZ Motorsport including racing the Radio Avon Commodore.
The Charger enjoyed a quiet life as a road car for quite a few years until Steve Ross
bought her back onto the track in 1992 with impressive results in both circuit
racing and drags She was claimed at the time to be the fastest Charger in NZ.
After being sold back to CHCH in 1996 her racing days were over for a while
with storage in a warehouse in Ferrymead.
Our Vendor purchased the Charger in 2001 and proceeded to get her match fit again.
With help from a true living legend of Charger Racing Jim Little, He was able to get her back onto the track
and enjoy many seasons of Classic Racing with the powerful Jimmy Built
engine and racing Diff installed ( which are still in the car today )
Jimmy has a special gift when it comes to Chargers and has developed some
incredible additions over the years to make them run harder and longer. This
car still has a few of those like a winged trap door sump to avoid surges in oil
special oil pressure relief valve and a hand built limited slip diff ( 3.5: 1 racing
ratio )
Recently reunited with Rod Collingwood (as the photos show) this old war horse has survived the decades having only received cosmetic refreshing over the years, and has never been restored, as its never needed it!

The original engine block which has remarkably survived, and the Dana diff are included in the sale, and although the current power plant is more than capable of performing its duties very well, it's very nice to have the correct bits which are normally long gone...

This is a serious collector car which has survived to tell its story, and a great story it is, a good honest solid car that presents well, and drives very well with good manners, certainly not a trailer queen, but it never has been, as its fought hard to earn its rightful place in our rich Motor Sport history!

A very impressive genuine Australian Muscle Car, the Real Deal.
