If you think this car looks good in the photos.. then you should really see it in person....

Aside from being truly beautiful car this would have to be one of the rarest XY Falcons in the country today without doubt.... this stunning XY is not a Replica of any sort, it's not a tribute, a GT clone, a Street Machine or any of the other things that these cars are usually presented as today, this is a genuine survivor car that has always been a very special car from day one.
If your thinking to yourself, "but it's not even a V8" then respectfully you should probably keep searching, because this is not the car for you, if you need an explanation as to why this is such a special car, you will probably never understand it...
This significant and special Fairmont Grand Sport was delivered new from Lynas Ford in Perth Western Australia on the first of November 1971 before being exported to Auckland and registered here in June 1973, still retaining its original black plates today. This example was ordered from new with the 4.1 170 Hp 250 2V M Code High Performance Six, and Top Loader 4 speed gearbox, making the car capable of out performing a standard 302 V8 according to road tests of the day, and was also ordered in the simply stunning and very classy Vintage Burgundy metallic.
According to the original ownership papers which have stayed with this XY for almost 50 Years, this genuine four owner 74K original mile car spent a large part of its life with one owner in Tauranga who clearly appreciated how special the car was even back then, so embarked on a sympathetic cosmetic restoration of what was clearly a very very good original unmolested car.
The body work on this XY is unbelievably good, the panel fitment and straightness of the body is testament to a true old school craftsman, it is superb in its detail, while the paintwork is gorgeous inside and out, and has had many hours of painstaking work completed to be presented the way it is today, but refreshingly the essence and character of the car has not been lost at all, as the sympathetic restoration still includes a lot of the original 1971 trim and fittings, including a lot of the original clips and brackets in the engine bay, basically only what needed to be replaced was replaced, and where possible the original equipment is largely still present and correct, which makes a refreshing change.
The immaculate interior is beautiful with a correct and functioning push button Super Fringe Radio still present, while the super cool GS dash is proudly holding centre stage, with the extra gauges and rev counter, accompanied by the 4 speed stick and centre console between the basket weave bucket seats.
This XY drives superb and would be one of the tightest smooth driving examples of any early Falcon we have ever offered for sale, and there have been quite a few...
A very rare opportunity to own a very rare XY Fairmont GS that has managed to escape the GT or V8 repower treatment its entire life...It simply doesn't get much better than something that was just born special right from day one, and has remained that way for 50 years..
