How cool is this old Hot Rod!!!

This very rare 5 window Chev Master Coupe has the distinction of being one of Christchurchs original old school 70s Hot Rods, with a well known history including attending the very first Taupo Street Rod Nationals, and being present at several shows and events over its many decades in the Rod scene, and it was also a well known competitor at the drag strip consistently laying down very respectable high 12 second quarter mile times way back in the day!

This genuine all steel survivor has been developed over the years and constantly refined into a well mannered and very user friendly Hot Rod, and the current owner has recently spent a considerable amount of time and money ensuring that this Old School Rod is a really reliable pleasure to drive,

The running gear consists of the ever trusty small block 350 Chevy, mated to a Super T-10 4 speed manual box, with a Hurst style shifter, running into a 9 inch Ford diff, held in place by Aden coil overs, and a 4 bar set up, the front end is the traditional independent Holden Sunbird unit, fitted with HQ callipers and P76 discs, and a re-angled rack and pinion, with this all recessed into the original frame, to give the car that Just Right stance,

The interior is finished in a super trick cloth pattern material, by a well known local Hot Rodder, with lots of neat detail features, and a correct style bench seat has recently been re-installed after being completely retrimmed for a traditional look, and the cool custom billet dash houses full VDO classic instrumentation, with a custom column, topped by a Le Carra leather steering wheel.

Clean solid bodywork with a filled roof etc, is testament to the quality of workmanship in the original build, with older but still very presentable paintwork, set off by Hallibrand knock off style alloys, all coming together to make this Coupe a real head turner !

A previous NZ Hot Rod magazine feature car, this rare old Coupe has an extensive local history, and is a very well known car, the 34 Master Coupes where a very rare car even in the US, and this NZ new factory RHD example is believed to be one of only 13 to ever come here, and the best part is its still all steel, and un-chopped, with a completely timeless style and character.
