An absolute stunner of a classic New Zealand RHD 1938 Coupe!

This magnificent NZ New 38 Coupe has been the subject of and extensive restoration at the hands of its very passionate owners over the last few years, and comes complete with a fully documented and recorded restoration file that would make your eyes water!

Originally purchased by the current owners in the Nelson area in 2011 this old Coupe was still in quite good order having been the subject of a previously abandoned restoration of what was clearly a good solid old car. Basically the decision was made right from the very beginning to start again from scratch, to get the very best result they could possibly achieve.

A remarkable undertaking of patience and perseverance has developed into what must surely be one of the nicest restored Coupes available anywhere today.

The beautifully styled body has been off the chassis and fully restored before being treated to a stunning deep sparkling burgundy finish, complemented by all new glass chrome and trim, while mechanically everything has been gone through and rebuilt as required as well, while a complete new wiring system has been installed including being converted to a 12 volt system with an alternator and modern quartz headlamps for reliability and general driver friendly usage, and obviously all new rubbers and felts have also been fitted throughout the process.

The interior is a work of art as well finished in gorgeous soft Connelly leather hide in a saddle tone with a traditional cloth headliner and quality carpet throughout including the full boot area.

Correct period style wide white wall tires with fully refurbished wheels and new stainless caps round out the stunning interior package, and further enhance the overall presence of this magnificent old Coupe to perfection.

An amazing amount of records and receipts accompany this Coupe right down to the original 1938 service certificate from Chevrolet for the car, and the original old school hand written ownership papers tracking and recording the full history of owners names and addresses from when she was originally sold brand new in Huntley 83 years ago!

A remarkable old car from a bygone era, and an example that represents real value being offered at around half of its restoration cost to this standard today.

The 38 was arguably the best looking Coupe built by GM pre war, even prettier in design than the rival Ford Coupes in some minds, and this one is no exception, it is quite simply a very pretty and impressive old car.
