This magnificent NZ new Master Deluxe Business Coupe is an absolute must see!

Believed to be one of only 120 RHD examples assembled here in New Zealand in 1939, this J.A Series Coupe was supplied brand new by General Motors NZ Ltd Wellington, to the Chevrolet agency of LH Johnson of New Plymouth on the 8th of March 1939,

Having survived the decades as a very good honest original car, a complete restoration was conducted in the 1970s and the car has lived a very cherished existence ever since, obviously with respectful owners, evident in the fact that this older restoration still presents very well today, and short of the odd minor paint blemish, certainly doesn't look like it was restored 40 years ago...

Painted Gloss Black from new this stunning old Coupe is fitted with some rare and very desirable period accessories, including, bumper overiders, grille and trunk guards, fender lights(now used as indicators) duo-tone horns, Deluxe steering wheel (with horn ring), fog lights, period visor, and a correct glove box clock,

The original tools, jack and grease gun are still in the trunk, as is an original 1939 Shop manual,

The 85 hp straight six engine runs smooth, and the gear box is the correct 3 speed manual with synchro in second and top, also fitted is the optional 3.7:1 diff for better open road cruising, and better fuel economy, and being a Master Deluxe this example also has the more modern style coil front suspension, for better ride comfort and handling.

The restoration also included a sensible conversion to 12 volt electrics, and the vehicle has an NZ Vintage Car Club identity card, and NZHRA stock vehicle sticker.

A past feature car in the respected NZ Classic Driver magazine, this authentically restored Coupe is a turn key and enjoy classic, offered well under its replacement cost to this standard today.
