How cool is this neat old Humpy Holden!

The FJ series has gone down in the history books as one of the most iconic models ever built by the Australian motoring giant with the mighty FJ holding the distinction being the first of the locally built examples assembled here in NZ, and one look at the style and design of this magnificent Ute its not hard to see why they were such a hit.

This gorgeous old Ute would have almost certainly lived a very hard life carrying God knows what to God knows where and would have no doubt been worked to the brink of its existence before finding itself in need of total restoration.

Luckily for this example it was spared the fate that befell most of these and it was still actually on the road when purchased by its current owner almost 25 years ago, but being pretty tired and eventually missing a W.O.F the decision was made to restore her back to her former glory, but as is often the case, things got a little out of hand..

A mind numbing amount of time money and energy has clearly gone in to the rebuild of this old Ute, it is understood that well over $150k was invested in the body paint and mechanical restoration of this build with the bodywork displaying lines and fitment far superior to what would have been the norm back in 1956

After the bare body had been painstakingly rebuilt the entire shell was repainted in the period pale blue before all of the overhauled mechanicals were re installed back into place, along with a full new interior throughout including all rubbers weather strips glass, the list just goes on and on
A new wiring harness was also installed throughout and a conversion to 12 volt means better charging through a modern alternator providing reliable charging and decent headlamps.
There doesnt appear to be anything that has escaped the restoration on this FJ, the chrome bill alone would have made your eyes water

Sadly the long term owner of this beautiful Ute never got to see the end result of his labour of love, but the family saw the project through and returned this old soldier back to the lovely condition that it is in today.

This old Ute drives just as it should with great manners on the road and a period character that will put a smile on your face like only an old Humpy could do!
