The mid 50s was a very competitive time in the car industry, when style was everything if you wanted to stand out and sell cars, and GM where the masters, and this stunner would have certainly done the trick.
Imported to NZ in 2015 by its Buick fanatic owner, an awful lot of time and money has been invested now to make this Wagon fully compliant, LVVTA certified, and road worthy, and now after investing heavily in the process, sadly the passion has kind of been lost along the way, and with other projects on the go the decision has been made to sell her.. so the next owner will benefit from this labor of love, and own this stunning vehicle well under replacement cost, and without all the associated pain...
The gorgeous sculptured body on this Buick has been treated to an equally gorgeous coat of custom Purple Peal over classic Ivory and lavished in more chrome and stainless trim than most modern cars could probably even carry!
The original Buick Chassis has been modified to accept a 454 Cubic Inch Big Block Chevrolet engine, coupled to a TH400 with a more modern GM diff unit eliminating the old torque tube, and dropped spindles have been added too, with power disc brakes and power steering to take cars of the ride and give decent road manners.
The interior is super cool finished in white peal trim with purple piping to complement the exterior and cream carpet throughout looks fantastic while a hidden custom sound system takes care of the cruising tunes, along with modern Vintage Air A/C for comfort, and that magnificent wrap around dashboard reminds you that the Fifties was an amazing time in automotive design that we will sadly never see again..
A very rare and very cool car with worldwide recognition as an iconic model, with this example having a real Hot Rod vibe with her user friendly running gear, and staunch big block, she certainly stands out in the crowd!
