How cool is this magnificent machine!

The Iconic Bubble Top Chevrolet hard tops of this era are undisputedly some of the coolest looking cars to come out of the swinging sixties, and this example is no exception with its beautiful lines, impressive body trim and outstanding interior!

This remarkably original 61 appears to have sold new by Felix Chevrolet who were at the time one of the most prominent GM dealers in the entire USA, and as such the salesman clearly did his job convincing the then purchaser to tick the options list, as this 61 was loaded up including power windows, power steering integrated Air Conditioning, (not currently connected) and of course a push button radio.

A very honest original car that appears to have had a decent repaint quite a few years ago, with the paint and very straight body still presenting exceptionally well today.
It would appear that this Impala has never been pulled to bits retaining what appears to be its original and simply stunning two tone blue interior reflecting and very easy life, and further confirming that this is a car thats clearly been treated with respect over the decades, and never neglected or butchered.

The lovely old 283 small block V8 residing in the engine bay looks refreshingly just like it did back in 61, and ticks over nicely with plenty of punch if desired, shifting beautifully through the two speed Power Glide transmission, and with the addition of power assisted disc brakes up front as a concession to safety, this big Chevy really is an absolute joy to drive with lovely manners on the road.

Lovely chrome trim and brightwork throughout complements the over all style of this magnificent Impala, and since arriving here over fifteen years ago it has clearly been absolutely babied by its doting owner.

This was a one year only model being the high spec Impala with the Bubble Top roof, so that and with relatively low build numbers originally, it would be fair to say there wouldnt be many good ones left making this a rare opportunity to own an iconic model, especially here in NZ.

A very hard car to find today and with prices in the states for a comparable car now getting right up there, this one having been here many years represents a lot of car for the money, so if you are looking for a nice big collectable Cruiser that will certainly turn a few heads at your local cars and coffee, then you might have just found it
