What a weapon! talk about a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing!

This super cool old AP5 is a remarkable old car with a fully documented one family owner history right up until 2002 going right back to when it was imported from Adelaide through the then Chrysler dealers Haines motors of Ch Ch as a special import, including its original ownership papers and custom importation documents in pounds and shillings.
The correspondence file which has remarkably stayed with the car all of these years is mostly hand written correspondence between Chrysler Australia and the purchaser and is some of the best kept historical records of any car we have ever seen, making for very interesting reading.
A Christchurch car all its life this old AP5 remained in its original ownership until the original lady owner passed the car went to the son who stored it away from 1988 until 2002 when it was purchased by a clever young man with a dream of making this car a one off sleeper...
The original running gear soon found its way out of the engine bay, and was replaced with a set up that would be the envy of a lot of big dollar American Muscle Mopars.
The engine now residing in this old girl is a worked early 383 Big Block Chrysler with a comp XE268 cam, steel crank, forged pistons with ARP rod bolts, and 9.01 compression topped with rebuilt factory pre smog big valve heads, and an edelbrock performer RPM intake with a 600 Vac secondary Holley, all of which has done approximately 5k odd kms since being rebuilt.
This impressive package is coupled up to a Rebuilt 727 transmission with a Gill Younger shift kit, and rebuilt converter running into a Ford 9 Inch with an Eaton Torque bias LSD, and disc brakes. The front brakes have been upgraded to handle to pressure too with VJ Valiant rotors fitted with custom V6 Surf 4 piston callipers with a VG master cylinder and a VH 40 power booster.
The list just goes on and on, from the custom heavy duty radiator to larger fuel lines to the electronic ignition and remote trans cooler, this thing is a pretty serious old car....
The body is very clean for an old Valiant and to be fair and you could argue it was far too good of a car to be modified as it was at the time a one family owner low mileage car, but on the other hand why put this level of work into an old dog? and the reality was the old slanter as good as it was was never going to give this sort of performance!
The paintwork is nice and tidy and presents very well with a decent shine complemented by very decent chrome and trim, while widened police rims and Mopar dog dish caps round out the no nonsense purposeful style of this cool old Val.
The interior has also been restored to a very nice standard with Recaro buckets trimmed to match holding you in place so you don't spill your Fanta while cruising the centre parks, or slip out of the seat while having a red hot go on a track day.
Make no mistake this is one of those cars that would cost a lot more money to build today than it can be purchased for right now, and first you would have to find another salvageable AP5, and then start spending and spending big...
