What an amazing time capsule!

This delightful New Zealand new factory XR Fairmont V8 has to be seen to be fully appreciated, and it's even more unique in being the first year that the iconic small block 289 V8 was factory fitted to the Australian marque!

This beautiful Radiant Bronze parchment trim survivor was sold new in Canterbury, and was ordered from new with the 289 ci V8, and Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, this example also came equipped with power steering, and power disc brakes from new, and she was delivered to her lucky new owner on the 13th September 1967 through our local Ford dealers "Hutchinson Motors" and only changed hands again in the very early seventies being traded through "Palmer and Doak" the then North Canterbury Fords agents, where it was then sold to a local Kaiapoi North Canterbury resident, who absolutely treasured it for the next 40 years!

The immense care and attention this lovely old Fairmont has received over the decades is evident throughout, always garaged, the interior is absolutely magnificent, and still retains the original carpet, and seating, in what appears to be totally untouched original order, the engine bay and boot area are both super clean and original too, and the chrome and bright work trim is all present correct and in excellent order, the super straight solid old body is in remarkable condition, some minor paintwork has been touched up over the years as is common with early metallic's, but it's been done well, and the overall appearance is totally authentic and looks completely correct and largely very original.

The way this lovely old Fairmont drives and performs would be the envy of a lot of modern cars, the ride quality and general feel of this big solid car is absolutely fantastic, it is rattle free and drives superbly, completely impressing anyone lucky enough to drive her.

The history of this superb car is rare in itself, but the condition completely supports it, and retained with the car are the original hand books and service books documenting the history.

The first of the V8s the Sixty Seven Fairmont must have created quite a stir when new, and driving this one you can easily see why....
