This tough looking 68 Coupe has a pretty staunch appeal.

The current owner of this neat notchback has owned this car for around ten years, and being a bit of a tinkerer has really gone to town..

We have known this example for quite a few years and it was originally built as a sort of Pro Touring style of machine with a pretty serious engine and transmission which all required several upgrades to the handling and braking side of things.

The almost over the top race inspired engine and box are now gone and in their place is a nice mild 302 with receipts for a rebuild, which is coupled up to a shift kitted c4 automatic transmission and on into an 8 inch diff. The car is still quite lively but now much more docile and enjoyable, but its not just another standard old Mustang under the skin..

Starting up the front is a power steering full rack and pinion conversion, with large Wilwood brakes and discs taking care of the stopping duties, and moving down towards the rear are sub frame connectors and chassis stiffeners, and a disc brake rear end.

This Mustang handles and drives like a little go cart being happiest whipping around hills and decent winding roads with ease, the package is pretty well thought out with more handling and braking capabilities than you would expect of a classic Mustang, and a firm grounded ride in keeping with the nature of the machine.

Inside the pro touring theme continues with later model wrap around seating with modern VDO instruments retro fitted to the dash, and the hand brake relocated to the floor.

The body presents well with an older coat of paint finished in a stunning vintage Burgundy Wild Berry metallic, and although it has its little marks and chips from being thoroughly enjoyed, over all this is a clean tidy old Mustang that is being offered well under what would have been spent on it over the years

Tidy chrome and trim along with 17 inch Streeter Show Wheels wrapped in Potenza rubber fill the arches up, and the Falcon GT twist turn bonnet locks and Mach 1 bonnet scoop and front spoiler all add the 70s style street racer look.

Having been in NZ for over 30 years now, this Mustang appears to have received a restoration at some point in the past, and although probably some time ago, it still presents nicely over all.

All upgrades are recently fully LVVTA certified for piece of mind.
