The Iconic HK GTS Monaro! The legendary Holden that first showed everyone that Holden was without doubt seriously in the Muscle Car game!
The HK Monaro was an instant success on its release in 68, the styling was pure genius, and there was simply nothing quite like it. Fifty plus years later you can clearly see why this is still one of the most sought after and desirable examples of a true Australian Muscle Car.
This particular HK is a simply stunning example which needs little introduction locally, having been a multi award winner at national level many times in the past, and as such is a well-respected example in the local car scene.
Originally fully and completely restored from a bare shell some time ago by its mechanical engineer owner for his wife to drive an enjoy, as is often the case it sort of went a bit above and beyond that brief, and became more of a gorgeous show car than a driver..
The body has had many exhaustive man hours invested in it to bring it to the standard you see here today, with all works completed locally, prior to being fully re painted in a stunning coat of high impact Sebring Orange, and then lavished with the full catalogue of trims fittings and brightwork, some of it almost impossible to find today, and as a result this Monaro still presents beautifully today.
The running gear consists of a lovely and lively rebuilt 327 small block Chevrolet coupled up to a TH350 Automatic transmission, and with the highly desirable power steering this Monaro really a very user friendly and an absolute pleasure to dive.
The interior has also been fully refurbished and looks magnificent in the deep black with the super cool console mounted tach and GTS steering wheel, while all of the instruments have been refurbished and the dash restored.
The list really does just keep going with this one, new rubbers, new seals, new trim and brightwork, everywhere you look everything has been under the sharp eye of the restorer, with an eye to detail bringing out the best features of the first series Monaro including the fluted bonnet and extending to custom alloys manufactured to look like the original GTS hub caps.
A lot of work has gone into this Monaro to make it complete user friendly driver, and it has proved itself to be a well sorted reliable car having travelled all over the country.
