How cool is this old doll!

A very rare opportunity to own what is quite possibly the last surviving Canadian assembled original Right Hand Drive NZ delivered Pontiac Parisienne convertible left !

This delightful old Pontiac was sold and registered here in Christchurch back on the 6th of March 1968, and has resided around Canterbury all of her life according to the original old paper ownership papers which are still retained, along with the original service books and other interesting period literature.

According to the documentation this grand old lady was supplied new by Dominion Motors in Christchurch and was first sold to a private address locally.

Can you imagine what this car must have looked like cruising CH CH streets back in the day among all of the British and Australian offerings of the period? it must have looked like a space ship! you would have certainly been noticed!

This old survivor appears to have always been on the road complete with its first issue original black plates, and it has never been fully restored rather maintained and treated with respect throughout the decades, the body shows no obvious signs of major work of any kind, and the interior has a maintained original appearance, with only the odd repair as needed to maintain the overall condition.

Repainted sometime long ago with the odd additional little touch up over time the paintwork is still in nice order and presents well over all, and the last owner of over twenty years fitted a correct replacement cover to the full electric roof a few years back.

The running gear consists of a period early GM Big Block 396/402 engine coupled to a Power Glide Automatic transmission, and she sounds fantastic with that lumbering Big Block idle and simply effortless power and torque.

Being RHD this very special car is a very rare bird indeed, and it is an absolute pleasure to drive with its super comfortable wide bench seating and power steering, it just has that feel about it the moment you get behind the wheel that makes you feel like you a driving a very special old car...

With an interesting documented history there are some real old school local dealers listed, proper white shoes and cigar dealers from the seventies! who can lay claim to early ownership, and we have even had a visit from a past long term owner from over 40 years ago, who reminisced about the fun the family had in this dear old car in the good old days.
