Sold by us to the current owner over 14 years ago, this car stood out at the time as it had an amazing body and paint back then, and today, nothing has changed...
The body on this example would be one of the best presenting examples we have ever seen, it was clearly an exceptionally good old car all those years ago, as it has never had any paint since, and has not bubbled or broken out anywhere in the areas that are usually plagued with issues on these old girls.
The bottoms of the doors appear original, and very clean, with nice solid sills, and wheel arches, and the body doesn't appear to show any signs of having had obvious repairs of any sort, while the Bright Red paintwork is also exceptionally good, and looks like it's only a few years old, with this example having clearly been cherished and babied by its doting owner, always covered and garaged.
The thorough and detailed rebuild that took place all of those years ago included a trip down the GT themed route, and this example has a GT styled paintwork with the bold XW stripes with the cool Super Roos, along with the trade mark blackouts, spoilers, and a lovely set of highly polished 12 slots, with decent wide rubber.
The engine is a nicely warmed over 4V 351 Cleveland (2v heads) running through to an automatic trans and onto a Borg Warner diff, with factory power disc brakes up front.
A lovely smooth drive and excellent road manners are refreshing in this example, which appears to have travelled around 130k genuine miles in its life, and certainly it drives like a well kept low mileage car.
Converted many years ago this example is on an old school declaration, and as there have been no changes made since completion is still legal and roadworthy, and is also fitted with LPG as well as petrol as was the norm back in the day.
Inspection will impress a genuine buyer for a nice XW, you would spend a fortune today to make an average one this good, and although a bit of old school eighties style inside, it is still in very good order, with near perfect glass and rubbers, and due to such a strong demand in these cars today, everything is now available reproduction to take this car to the next level and continue along the GT replica line, and we are all well aware of the dollar value now of a nicely executed replica......
Well worth a look if you love your old Aussie Fords, this one is a real honey, and they are very hard to find today, and getting increasingly more valuable as time goes on...especially in this sort of condition...
