A true survivor from the era of the Real Muscle Cars!
Not many of these cars have survived to tell the story of how it was in the good old days.....
1970 was the absolute pinnacle of the Horse Power War years for GM, and pretty much everyone else, with the highest recorded HP ratings of the period sadly slipping back in 71 and becoming even more restricted as the decade rolled out, but that wasn't the case for this old darling, she was born in 1970 so received the 396 cubic inch big block, which was in fact the 402 ci engine, coupled to a TH400 and running back into the 12 bolt diff, which was the last year it would appear in a performance Camaro, and mandatory with the SS option was the F41 High performance Suspension package, with the heavy duty sway bars front and rear as standard.
This particular Camaro is a well known car out of the deep south and has resided with the same respectful car enthusiast owners for almost 20 years, with this the first time this car has been offered for sale for a very long time.
Decoding the original undisturbed cowl tag confirms this example was produced in the second week of July 1970 in the Van Nuys Los Angeles assembly plant, and was finished from new in the desirable Daytona Yellow with black Deluxe interior trim, as it still presents to this day.
The body appears solid and relatively clean with older but still very presentable paintwork with the expected marks bruises and chips of a car this age, but still reflects a pretty honest survivor that's never been fully restored, simply maintained and kept to a reasonable standard, driven and enjoyed plenty, and generally treated well over the decades, without being completely destroyed like most of these sadly have been....
The interior is clean in its mostly original form with the black crinkle Deluxe trim complemented by the cock pit inspired dash design with Deluxe wood grain accents, and a full centre console with the iconic and very cool Staple Shifter.
Clean chrome and trim and factory tinted glass complement this Camaro and hunkered down on the big 15 inch Z28 Rally wheels with white lettered tires, this one really has the look, with decent road manners, and drives really well, with a great over all Big Block Muscle Car appeal.
The clean engine bay houses the nicely detailed Big Block, which the last owner previously fully rebuilt, and as a result ticks over nicely, and over the years this cool old Camaro has proved itself to be a reliable and capable old cruiser having seen plenty of cars shows around the Country.
A very hard car to find today anywhere in the world, and this is about as collectable as it gets for a second generation Camaro, a 396 SS from 1970 in Daytona Yellow... you probably wont find another one...
Complete with the Original tank sticker build sheet documenting original specification, so no grey areas with this one, Its the real deal!
