A true time warp survivor!

Remember the Street Machine Era? Love it or hate it, it was a very large part of the scene in the late eighties early nineties both here and in Australia producing some serious automotive works of art with plenty of polished alloy and stainless work while bringing to life huge events like the Summer Nats and Street machine shows alike which are still ongoing today because of cars just like this one.
This staunch old Monaro would have been right at home back then, and would have no doubt put a few trophies in the cabinet back in her day, and I'm sure she would have inspired many a young enthusiast to pin up a poster of her on the bedroom wall dreaming of one day owning an absolute beast just like it, one day....
The highly polished monster protruding from the bonnet of this iconic Coupe is a 350 small block stroked to 383 with a 671 Blower and twin fours which despite the quite impressive dyno figures and overall appearance is quite well mannered starting and idling with ease, and being refreshingly sorted and user friendly for a car of this nature.

The angry small block is coupled to a Ford Four speed manual gearbox and on into a bullet proof nine inch Ford diff, so reliability and strength was certainly a factor considered when this car was put together.
According to the original body ID tags which are thankfully still fitted to the fire wall this HQ Started life in the Sydney plant in October 72, and was born a V8 LS Coupe in the rare and stunning Zodiac Blue.
Sold new in NZ this example appears to have lived a reasonable existence before being built into the beast you see before you, and appears to have a very solid and tight body which has always been kept in nice order probably due to its early show days, having reasonable panel fitment and clean lines for the period.
The paintwork although older now is still clean and very presentable with no obviously signs of breaking out or recent work hiding anything untoward. Really nice glass and window trim all round is refreshing, as its almost impossible to find today, while the period stainless drop tank and highly polished Drag way style alloys with raised white lettered tires all hark back to the Street Machine period.
The interior is a mix of original and custom with an aftermarket dash and gauges but retaining the original bucket seating and rear trim, along with a few other unique fittings.
A fully carpeted out custom boot with huge integrated sound system was a big deal back in the day, and this example has all that and more.
A pretty cool blast from the past telling of a different time and tastes, this car would have been state of the art in her day, but is also a very rare and desirable collector car today... so either enjoy this one as it is now and as its been for a long time, or restore her back relatively easily as the value and desirability continues to rise for the breed if that's your preference, either way a cool old car that drives nice with real street creed and plenty of attitude!
