Hey Charger!

A car that took some time to catch up to its Holden And Ford rivals of the day value wise, but it's certainly happening now!

The underdog Charger was without doubt one of the coolest looking cars to come out of Australia in the Seventies, and this example has captured that with its nod to the iconic E49 Race bred road cars of the era.

This NZ new 770 Charger has clearly had a fair investment in time and money to present as it does today.
The body appears to be solid and straight with tidy paintwork, and nothing obviously breaking out or evidence of past major damage.
The paintwork has been refinished in a stunning bright Hemi Orange which is one of the true hero colours of the day, complemented by Black stripes and an R/T E-49 themed decal package.

The engine is a strong old 265 Hemi with a bit of a twist...this example has had a modified XR6 Falcon fuel injection system sectioned and made to fit a custom manifold, so is an interesting combination which seems to work to good effect with strong performance and a very responsive throttle!

The tough sounding old six is coupled up to a 4 speed manual Chrysler box, and power is feed through to a B/W diff, with the package lowered down to just the right height to handle nicely, and that sweet angry six music is played through extractors and a twin system.

The interior is functional and reasonably tidy and has been finished in black throughout to complement the striking exterior colour, which really looks the part.

It would appear this old Charger may have seen the odd race track over the years, and has been developed with some fun day club type work in mind, from its home town of Timaru, where some of the fastest Chargers in the world originated from, this car has been associated with some of the original old school tinkerers who have no doubt advised as to how to make a Charger go and handle properly...

7 inch Period style Triden alloys and wide rubber complete the overall appearance of this staunch old Hemi, and she's still more than capable of turning a few heads!

A clean old Charger that looks the part, not a perfect concourse example by any stretch, but a great base to either enjoy just as it is or add further value with a few cosmetics and a little more time and tinkering.
