The classic iconic Australian and Kiwi Ute, the good old Qwee!

These old work utes were usually just that.... but occasionally you got one that was optioned up with all of the fruit of the day, and that would have been the highly desirable Sand Man!

This stunning local example is one man's tribute to the Sand Man model and has been painstakingly built up from what was a good honest old survivor work Ute.

Well known to us, this old Ute was a regular visitor when is standard trim, and is now a real credit to the passion of its owner and the amount of man hours spent not to mention the large investment in money to bring it to the standard it is presented in today.

The body presents well with nice paintwork and decent panel fitment and is more than capable of turning its share of heads at local car events, but is not so precious that it can't be driven and thoroughly enjoyed carting dirt bikes or a load of timber in style.

Residing under the hand crafted all steel Cowl hood is a very stanch Vortec 4 bolt main 350 with roller rockers, roller cam etc, and as well as being dressed up nicely for the occasion with lots of shiny bits this unit is more than capable of propelling this old girl along at more than a fair rate of knots!

The very lively Chevrolet 5.7 ci engine shifts into a TH350 trans which has also been recently rebuilt, and on into a new Eaton Tru Track diff with modified one ton axels, and refreshingly the shifter is retained on the column allowing for the bench seat to be kept in place allowing for three occupants in the cabin, so this one has some practicality as well as style.

The cabin has been refinished throughout in a lovely black trim with period style hounds tooth inserts, and a Sand Man steering wheel and sports dash is a real nice touch.

All new rubbers seals and refurbished stainless trim along with rechromed bumpers all come together to give this HQ a really nice period Resto Mod appearance, while sitting down nice and low on a period style set of alloys with a nod to the old Rostyle wheels of the 70s with low profile rubber and the satin black Sand Man graphics, over the cool solid blue, this one is real hard to miss in the crowd!

A lot of money has been spent here and replacement today with the price of any surviving HQ would be very cost prohibiting, and why wait, this one's Fully LVVTA certified and ready to go now!
