##SOLD## A true genuine barn find...When we found this genuine low mileage survivor it had been tucked away from prying eyes in dry secure storage covered in dust for the past 36 years.... yes, almost four decades tucked away with the same doting owner, and it has only recently been discovered and released from its decades of peaceful slumber, complete with its original first issue black plates, which were kept on hold all these years!
Built in June of 1974 this very honest original genuine GT has travelled a mere documented 160,000 kms! She was originally sold brand new on the 26th of August 1974 by Lakeland Motors of Rotorua and after a few early private owners was subsequently sold out of Mainland Motors of Christchurch in 1988 to its last private owner.
This remarkable old survivor still has her original matching numbers 4V 351 residing in the engine bay, and was optioned new with power steering and T Bar automatic transmission.
Finished in Code Y Iridescent Kelly Green metallic with the factory satin blackouts this is a striking looking GT which still easily turns heads today just as it did in 74. The original interior trim is finished in Oatmeal, with everything as represented by the factory undisturbed never removed body tags.
The body on this XB is remarkably clean for the age and appears very solid confirmed by having just passed its first AA W.O.F in many decades.
The exterior paintwork is still shiny and very presentable although is showing the expected minor age related marks and blemishes from being enjoyed, but over all this example still presents very well and she would certainly not disgrace herself at your local car show.
The interior is very honest with only the drivers front seat worn through at the seams under the sheep skins, but the all original dash is almost perfect, as is the crash pad with no splits, and it literally still smells like 1974 in there!
We have recently recommissioned this old darling to get her road worthy again, and have personally put a few hundred miles on her now, and she would be one of the tightest smoothest old GT Falcons we have ever driven or sold, and there have been quite a few..
This example is a true time warp that has survived because it was put away back in the day when the fuel prices became an issue for its caregiver, but she was clearly always loved, she was kept dry, stored properly and regularly aired out which kept her in remarkable condition, so she is one of the few lucky ones.
We have not restored this GT as its simply doesnt require it in our opinion, rather its an honest representation of how they were back in the day, we have gone over the car and done what was deemed necessary to get it back up and running, and roadworthy again, and it seems to be very happy to be back on the road, having proved itself to be very reliable to date, and simply just a lovely old car to drive.
Original ownership papers accompany this example, and it would be fair to say you would go a long way to find another one in this sort of condition...
The last of the true early GTs and arguably the most refined of the original Grand Tourers.
Inspection will impress a genuine buyer for this genuine car.
