What an absolute time warp survivor!!
A genuine one family owner P5 LTD, with the first owner passing ownership over to another family member after over 40 years of faithful pampering! where would you find another one like it?
Purchase brand new from McCaulay Ford Invercargill on the 31st of May 1974 this was at the time the absolute top of the line flagship model for Ford Australia, and was the very best and most luxurious vehicle available in the general line up, and it would fair to say if you were in a position to purchase one of these cars new, money really wasn't an issue, because they were certainly not a cheap car!
This lovely example was optioned with all of the usual fruit of the day, including full electrics, Air Con, (operated by the super cool air craft style toggles no less!) a fully padded hand stitched dash, wood grain accents, gold medallions, courtesy lamps everywhere, and of course wall to wall shag pile carpeting!
To pull all of these accessories around this big long wheelbase beauty was essentially powered with full XB GT running gear, including the 351 CI V8, factory 4 barrel, FMX auto, 9 inch LSD with factory tramp rods, and this was also the first Australian produced Ford to have power assisted 4 wheel disc brakes as standard equipment.
A truly remarkable old survivor this particular example still has its original deep padded moss green vinyl top, complementing its very rare deep Ivy Green metallic paintwork, and with the factory green tinted glass, and those way cool Lincoln full face hubcaps, there is no mistake she is a real period luxury limo.
The interior is unbelievably good in this example and totally original, with the unique deep buttoned chairs being so comfortable you feel like you're sitting on your couch at home and the A/C which has recently been fully refurbished still blows cold, which is about the only noise you get while wafting along at highway speeds in his magnificent old girl.
The original paintwork is still mostly present over the all of the original body panels, and as with any old Ford paintwork from this period it is starting to show its age with some crazing and the odd wee mark and parking ding now, but as a result you can clearly see this example hasn't suffered from the rust issues that plagued the model, and she is still very presentable and absolutely as honest as you would ever find today.
This LTD drives better than a lot of new cars, it has a real presence on the road and offers up a ride that would be the envy of a lot of far more expensive machines today, these cars are very rare now, and not many survived with many being butchered in the nineties, so if you have been looking for a very affordable alternative to most of the now very valuable Australian Ford products from this period, this would be well worth consideration....
A very cool old car that would be a real pleasure to own and drive while being a solid investment.
