Brock's first Commodore win at the Mountain came in one of these legendary Group C machines! and cemented the Commodore into the history books as one of the all time Aussie greats, making Commodore a house hold name, a name which survived for many decades as the go too in High Performance for the Iconic Aussie brand, and one which has sadly now gone..
This absolutely stunning replica has been built as a tribute to the iconic Group C cars of the eighties, and has been built to respect the motor sport heritage with a package that even Brock himself would have considered a very capable high performance package!
The information that was supplied to our vendor from the original builder (which we have no reason to doubt, as a lot of it is quite obvious) is as follows.
Powering this impressive beast is a 5.0 Holden engine which is an Ex NZ V8 Endurance engine originally built by the well respected Ken Hopper, and includes a new roller cam, roller rockers, conical valve springs, and an accompanying dyno sheet showing 345HP @ the rear wheels, with an impressive 500 nm of torque, this is then coupled to a 4 speed Super T-10 gearbox with a Hurst shift, Excedy Motor Sport NZ twin strap clutch, and on into a Salisbury 10 bolt with 3.55 Steelie gears.
The suspension set up consists of Adjustable Konis, White line fully adjustable front and rear sway bars, Toy Shop adjustable top hat caster plates, with super pro bushing throughout.
Braking is taken care of by AP Racing 4 pot fronts with Hawke pads, and Bendix ultimate's out the back, stainless steel braided lines and a bias valve, among many other trick components.
The very clean body has been fully restored with the addition of the super cool "Group C" HDT flare kit, and the paintwork presents beautifully with the correct style HDT stripes, while the impressive interior is exceptionally nice finished as per the correct SL/E high grade style.
This particular VC was originally built with the intention of running in the local Production Muscle Cars series, but the direction changed with the car now being a very competent performance Muscle Car for the road, all of the hard work and money has been spent on its development to ensure that it is a fun fast but relatively manageable driver, so if you want an angry but drivable classic Commodore, the search may be over...this VC is a must see to fully appreciate the condition and specification, and this example is being offered well below replacement to this calibre today...
A lot bang for your buck, and with the prices of Aussie Muscle from this decade now heading in the direction of the seventies classics at an alarming rate, you would have an enjoyable investment with plenty of potential to be a rewarding future Muscle Classic.
A great track day fun car or staunch weekend warrior.
