A very significant model in the history of the iconic Australian Ford Falcon range, and a car that revitalised sales for the brand and kept the flag flying for another couple of decades due to its sharp new edge bold style and BOSS 260 5.4 performance all at an affordable price.
The BA model was arguably more significant in its day than the now iconic XY model in its overall design and style for the period, and as such enjoyed massive sales success from the moment it was released.
It's hard to believe this model is now almost 20 years old today, but it is, and time has certainly taken its toll on the stylish BA with many being treated like most old Falcons of the day, being thrashed to within an inch of their life, or with the clear coat gone, chopped springs and pink stickers....
This lovely old survivor however has lived a completely different life, it has never been tampered with in any way and looks exactly like it did when it left Team Hutchinson Ford back in 2004.
Recently purchased from a deceased estate this lovely XR8 was the pride and joy of its mature caretaker for over 14 years, and is only a private two owner car from new, having lived in rural Canterbury almost all of its life.
The body is remarkably tight and super straight, with stunning Lightning Strike Silver paint work displaying beautifully with only very minor little marks from general use, but none of the usual faded clear, largely due to being garaged all of its life.
The interior is in really nice order with everything in its place, and still generally presents like a car half the age.
The Big BOSS 5.4 260 Engine performs nicely, and runs smoothly into a nice shifting auto, through to a nice tight differential, giving this XR absolutely lovely road manners and feedback to the driver.
All of the original books and key fob from Hutchinson Ford are still retained from new, and the original alloys are still fitted along with the factory exhaust system and original air intake.
Having travelled obviously a very easy 180k kms this example should have plenty of life left in it yet, as most have now done twice that and are still kicking, while this particular car generally presents more like it's done about 80k kms.
