The Iconic AC Cobra 427 Wide Body...what a legendary machine, and this example is nothing short of spectacular!
Built locally by a well-known engineer this remarkable tribute to the all concouring AC Cobra is one of the best we have seen.
The attention to detail and execution of this build has clearly been a labour of love, and it shows throughout the entire vehicle.
As with a lot of beautifully hand built cars the original builder enjoys the build process and then becomes a little bored when there is nothing left to build, and no more stainless steel to weld fabricate and polish....so this magnificent example was sold to another local very clever tinkerer who has gone right through the car ironing out any issues related to a new build, and as such we now have a very good reliable car that performs exceptionally well.
A well respected Berry Race Cars kit was chosen for this build, and the impressive chassis is home to some equally impressive running gear consisting of a very lively Man Of War 427ci stroker coupled to a Tremec 5 Speed and on into a custom Berry Race cars 9 inch fully independent LSD rear end, with adjustable coil overs and big high performance Willwood Brakes on all four corners. To say this is a pretty capable performer would be a gross understatement...this thing literally pulls like a freight train with what is believed to be around 540 hp and around 500 ft pbs of toque in a package that weighs very very little...you do the math.. it is certainly not a car to be disrespected, or it will bite you just like a snake..
The beautiful body has been painted in a stunning deep Sapphire blue metallic with Silver runways, and is trimmed in black leather with period correct style vintage Auto Meter instruments, competition belts and a Moto Lita style light weight racing steering wheel which all add to the unmistakable racing heritage flavour of this magnificent beast.
Originally registered for the road on its completion in 2009, this Shelby has been driven and enjoyed so there are a few small chips and a little wear if you look hard enough, however it all just adds to the over all charm on this stunning Cobra and gives a very authentic looking car a very authentic look.
A very impressive package and a well built car, we have had quite a few of these cars over the years, but this one wont be easily forgotten...at 427 Cubes and 7.0 Litres she will certainly get you blood pumping!
